I think that there are two acoustic guitars in this one. I'm going to show you the chords, the tabbed intro and a tip or two - you can take it from there. Be sure to visit my tab page in order to understand how I write tablature on the web.

TIPS
Intro
Position your fingers to play the A chord as:
A
1 -|| -----1---------------------------5
2 -|| -----1---------------------------5
3 -|| ----------2----------------------6
4 -|| ---------------3-----------------7
5 -|| ----------------------------------0
6 -|| ----------------------------------
And then follow this simplified version of the pickin' pattern:
1 -||
------5----------------5--------------5-------------------------------
2 -||
----------------5--------------5--------------5-----5-----------------
3 -||
--------------6---------------6--------------6------6---------2------
4 -||
------7-----7----------7----7--------7----7--------7---------0------
5 -||
----0-----0---------0-----0-------0-----0----------0------------------
6 -||
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
1 -||
------5----------------5--------------5-------------------------------
2 -||
----------------5--------------5--------------5-----5----------3-------
3 -||
--------------6---------------6--------------6------6----------2------
4 -||
------7-----7----------7----7--------7----7--------7----------0------
5 -||
----0-----0---------0-----0-------0-----0----------0------------------
6 -||
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
The last notes in each of the above lines are really part of a D chord... go ahead and finger the D chord as follows, but play only the appropriate strings.
D
1 -|| -----1---------------------------2
2 -|| ----------3----------------------3
3 -|| -----2---------------------------3
4 -|| -0-------------------------------0
5 -|| -----------------------------------
6 -|| -----------------------------------
If ya want, you could use this finger pickin' pattern for the entire song... or just do it your way... :-)
All of the Song
I think that this song was actually played with a capo on the 2nd fret and the first chord fingering would be the standard G chord (which would sound like an A chord)... but since I don't have a capo handy, I wrote the song in the key of A.
The chord symbols do not pertain to any number of beats.
When you see the A chord followed by the A/G# chord - play the alternate F#m chord.
I hope you enjoyed playing this one.
Remember, that by learning this song, you are helping to preserve the music of the Ozark Mountain Daredevils!
